I’ve captured Marshall McLuhan’s article, The Medium is the Massage, in my rendition of the popular design publication, Speak. The exact essay is found in this publication design and the images existing beside it are from my understanding of McLuhan’s writing.
McLuhan talks about how media creates war and how media is an extension of humans. The cover photo illustrates this statement. We no longer pay attention to things printed, but immediate posts of altered perceptions of recent news. The newspaper articles are both very important advancements in technology. They’re distorted to show an abstract representation of what current media does to us all, it distorts the truth. McLuhan says we have a civil war on our hands because people are focusing on media instead of printed word. This damages classrooms because people can now get all their information from the internet, whether it be true or not. These images represent the points made by McLuhan in his essay and abstractly illustrate these statements.
